Meet the team
Robotic heart and lung surgery requires a dedicated team of highly trained and enthusiastic doctors, nurses and perfusionists. Training and careful co-ordination and communication is essential to achieving the best possible outcomes.
Each member of the team has been selected for their unique skill set to facilitate safe and effective robotic surgery. They all work together inside and outside of the operating theatre to ensure the best possible care for each patient.
Dr David Marshman MBBS FRACS
Dr Marshman is a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital. He has extensive experience in complex cardiac surgery, including aortic surgery, mitral valve repair, thoracic surgery and adult congenital surgery.
Dr Roger Levy MBBS, FFARACS, FANZCA
Dr Levy is a specialist cardiac anaesthetist and perfusionist who trained in Australia and the UK. He currently works at the Mater, North Shore Private and Royal North Shore hospitals. He has over 30 years’ experience in cardiac anaesthesia and is interested in implementing evolving technologies in cardiac surgery and anaesthesia.
Dr Saul Judelman MBBS FANZCA
Dr Judelman is a specialist cardiothoracic anaesthetist with a focus on intra-operative echocardiography and cardiopulmonary bypass. He is fellowship trained having spent two years in Toronto at large volume centres gaining particular experience in cardiac surgery echocardiography.
Dr Arpit Srivastava MBBS FANZCA
Dr Srivastava is a specialist anaesthetist and currently Director of Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at Royal North Shore Hospital. He has a keen interest in quality improvement in peri-operative medicine and has presented on these topics at regional and national meetings. He is also strongly involved in the education of future anaesthetists.
Sheeba Joy, Clinical Nurse – cardiac
As a Clinical Nurse Manager (cardiothoracic), Sheeba worked along with multidisciplinary teams involved in complex cardiac surgery and the National Heart and Lung Transplantation programme in Ireland. Sheeba is now managing the Cardiothoracic theatre at the Mater Hospital.
Hayden Dando CCP (Aust)
Hayden has broad experience in both adult and paediatric perfusion techniques with a particular interest in Patient Blood Management and is completing his master’s degree at UNSW. He regularly travels overseas with Open Heart International as part of a team providing Cardiac Surgery to adults and children in third world countries.
